Malavika Mohanan

Malavika Mohanan, born on 4 August 1993, is an Indian actress primarily known for her work in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. She hails from a film-oriented family, being the daughter of renowned cinematographer K. U. Mohanan. Despite her upbringing in Mumbai, Malavika’s roots lie in the town of Payyanur in the Kannur district of Kerala. Her foray into acting began with her debut in the Malayalam film “Pattam Pole” in 2013. Initially, Malavika aspired to follow in her father’s footsteps either as a cinematographer or director. However, fate led her towards acting when she received an offer to star opposite Dulquer Salmaan in “Pattam Pole” after an encounter with Mammootty during a commercial shoot. Despite initial hesitation, she embarked on her acting journey and gradually learned the nuances of the craft during the filming process. Although “Pattam Pole” received mixed reviews, Malavika’s performance showed promise, marking the beginning of her acting career. She further showcased her versatility in roles such as a ballet dancer in “Nirnayakam” (2015) and a police officer in “The Great Father” (2017), which received positive reviews. However, it was her role in Majid Majidi’s Hindi film “Beyond the Clouds” (2017) that garnered widespread acclaim and recognition.
